TRAI & DND Compliance Guide

Guidelines on legal voice broadcasting, DLT registration, 140/160 series number allocation, and consumer protection in India.

Compliance First Architecture: PixVibe IVRS works directly with licensed telecom partners (VoiceLink by Elision & Exotel) who maintain automated DLT scrubbing and carrier-level regulatory adherence.

1. Promotional vs. Transactional Voice Calling

Under TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) and DoT regulations, voice calls are divided into two distinct categories:

140-Series (Promotional OBD)

Used for offers, marketing, event invitations, and sales promotions. Must only be dialed between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM IST and must scrub against National Do Not Call (NDNC / DND) registers unless explicit user opt-in exists.

1600-Series (Service / Transactional)

Used for critical service alerts, OTP voice fallbacks, delivery updates, and essential service reminders. Permitted 24x7 provided content matches pre-approved enterprise DLT templates.

2. Permissible Time Windows

Automated commercial calling during unsanctioned hours (before 9:00 AM or after 9:00 PM) is strictly prohibited. PixVibe IVRS provides scheduling locks to ensure automated batches respect these regulatory time windows.

3. Explicit Consent & Opt-Out Protocols

Enterprises broadcasting promotional voice content must maintain verifiable records of customer consent. Every broadcast should give recipients a clear method to unsubscribe or opt out of future voice communications.

4. DLT Enterprise Registration Process

To obtain authorized 140 or 1600 number series from VoiceLink or Exotel, your business entity must complete:
